Lake Lavon Stables is a private facility that offers full care horse boarding for a few special horses. We have 20 acres of grazing and access to thousands of acres of trail riding.

We offer pasture boarding to allow horses to live as close to their natural state as possible. Pastured horses are healthier and have fewer vices.

All horses must be up-to-date on their vaccinations and have Coggins.
All boarders are required to sign a Hold Harmless Agreement/ Liability Release before horses are permitted on the grounds.

Boarding at Lake Lavon Stables includes:

  • Grain fed once a day
  • Eight separate pastures of grazing
  • Free choice coastal hay (round bales)
  • Two bags of shavings / month
  • Bathroom
  • Sink
  • Shower
  • Use of our facilities
  • Unlimited use of the arena
  • Wash rack inside barn
  • HOT and cold running water
  • Sturdy pipe and cable fencing
  • Trailer loading chutes
  • Locked tack room to store saddle and tack
  • Washing machine (for smaller blankets)
  • Trailer parking
  • 25 miles of scenic trails around Lake Lavon
  • Natural and standard jumps (coming soon)
  • Owner adjacent to facility

BOARDING
One month's board includes once a day feeding and free choice round bale hay.
Rates beginning in March 2012

Pasture boarding $325 includes:
-Free choice round bale grass hay
-Turnout in general population
-Plenty of grazing during summer months
-Fertilzed pasture grazing during spring, summer & fall months



Additional Services and Expenditures:
Blanketing - $30/month
Trailer Parking - $25/month
Special feeding considerations for pastured horses - $30 / month
For example:
-Being isolated
-Additional number of feedings (twice a day + cost of grain) $2/day

Blanketing Policy:
Blankets go on at night at feed time and off in the morning based on expected and current temperature.
If the evening temperature is expected to go below 35 degrees, blankets go on.
If the morning temperature is below 35 degrees and it is not expected to warm up quickly, then blankets stay on. Owners may come out and remove in the middle of the day if it warms up quickly..
If morning temperatures are above 35 degrees, blankets will be taken off except in high winds.

THINGS TO DO around Lake Lavon Stables:
- Trail ride on 25 miles of trails with trees, creeks, open pastures and Lake Lavon
- Ride in the Lucas Founder's Day Parade (usually last weekend in October)
- Ride every Wednesday with the Lucas Trailblazers
(mostly women, who leave from Lake Lavon Stables in the morning)
- Ride every Thursday ride with the Saddlebags & Saddlebums
(men and women trail riders, all breeds of horses, but many Tennessee Walkers)
- Join / contribute / volunteer for the Trinity Trails Preservation Association which is the volunteer group which maintains 25 miles of trails around Lake Lavon
- Ride around twenty acres and practice trail riding skills through woods and creeks
- Jump natural obstacles in the pasture and on trails
